I’ve been a fan of the Dirty Heads for about 5 years now, and I’ve been lucky enough to see them live a few times. Their sound can be described as a blend of reggae, hip hop, and alternative rock.

Swim Team is their sixth full length album, and it features 11 songs for a total of 35 minutes of listening pleasure. I’d had a digital copy of the album, and finally got around to picking it up on vinyl. I’m a big fan of the red vinyl, and it looks great on my turntable.

The first single off the album is the song “Vacation,” which is about how doing something your passionate about is like being on a constant vacation. The next single “Celebrate,” details the struggles of being on the road and away from family. The lyrics deal with the difficulty of finding success, while missing milestones back home.

“So Glad You Made It,” features Nick Hexum from 311. I’m a big fan of this track because I’ve been a fan of 311 for over 20 years now.

This album has a great amount of energy behind it, and I think it’s definitely worth checking out. Whether you’ve been a fan of DH for sometime, or if you’re just now hearing of them, I think you’ll appreciate this album.
