Behind The Scenes - A Day To Remember's 'Right Back At It Again' Music Video Shoot (Photos + Video)
Every once in a while I get the opportunity to work on a project that's completely out of bounds. Being a band that is known for going over the top to create unforgettable visuals to match their music, A Day To Remember and director @dxxxr had a very special concept in mind for the bands single, Right Back At It Again.
I was asked to be on set that day in order to document the production, capturing both video and stills of the band in order to promote the project and also archive the content (More on that soon).
The video was shot at Full Sail University here in Orlando, FL using one of their many green screens.
Creating the Shot
The entire video was shot on green screen which allowed for animations to be applied to each scene during post production. The following photographs detail how keying was used to incorporate animation into the final edit.
Lead singer Jeremy McKinnon knocks out a scene where he reenacts not fitting in during school.
Drummer Alex Shelnutt lends his share of wacky faces to the edit. Each member was filmed doing a number of reactions which can be seen throughout the video.
Andrew Wade aka "The Big Boss" sets up to play his part as the sun. Andrew is the band's producer and has worked closely with them since the beginning of their career. He plays a special role in many of their projects and is sometimes said to be a hidden member of the band, among many other close friends.
This is definietly my favorite scene from the entire video, A Chorus Line to Remember.
Close friends of the band offered their acting skills to add to the video, often in very wacky manners.
Jeremy returns to sleeping on hardwood floors to film this shot from above.
Bass player Josh Woodard riding the green wooden pony.
Original guitar player Tom Denney lends his acting skills to the intro and outro of the video.
Behind the Scenes Recap Video
The rest of the shots seen created for the video can be seen in this recap video that I filmed and edited.
Official Video Release
The official video is nothing short of a masterpiece, unlike anything I have ever seen or been a part of. The use of keying creates an entire colorful universe for the band to exist inside of for the length of the video. Director @dxxxr and the entire production crew knocked this one out of the park.
Check out the official video below.
