The Tannahill Weavers - "The Mermaid's Song"

in #music7 years ago

The Tannahill Weavers are a traditional Scottish band known for playing the Great Highland Bagpipes as a part of their signature Celtic folk sound. Their music consists of both traditional tunes and original compositions, some with lyrics and some as pure instrumental pieces.

I first discovered this band while exploring the music selection in the public library of Sandpoint, Idaho when I lived in that city a bit over a decade ago. I encourage readers to explore the music collections of their local libraries. You never know what wonderful oddities you might find, especially if you delve into genres outside popular music. After all, if it's free to borrow, what do you have to lose compared to the prospect of finding a new favorite?

Unfortunately, while previewing the intended Youtube links for the 1992 recording The Mermaid's Song, I discovered some audio issues with some of the uploads. The only version of the first song from the album that I found had a bad shift to static in the middle. Fortunately, this is one of the bands that does not need studio magic to sound good, so a live recording has been substituted. Let me know in the comments if there are any issues in the other songs that I missed.
