How to Learn to Play Guitar - The Easy Way

For those who are beginners when it comes to Guitar or those looking to take up a new hobby, here is my way to show you the easiest way to learn to play the guitar. In my first week of practicing I already came to know 10+ songs. Soon after the learning became easy because I was seeing first-hand progress.

What is the easiest way to learn how to play Guitar?

The easiest way to learn Guitar can be broken down into these simple steps:

1st- Learn how to strum-

The best way to strum isn't with a pick, it's by using your fingernails(See pictures)

In doing this we are strumming up with our pointer nail and down with our thumb nail.
Practice doing this until it feels natural and then move on to step 2.

2nd- Learn chords-

Simply google chords to start learning and practicing. I recommend you learn the 4 chords of G, D, C and Em first.

Work on transitioning from each chord to another

3rd- Research chords for songs-

Next google songs chords like this "(Song name) guitar chords"
Use any website like guitar tabs and ultimate guitar... these will display the song lyrics with the chords you need to play over the lyrics.
You may find yourself stumbled upon a new chord but that's okay! All you have to do is research how to play it, practice it, then it will be added to your mental chord library.

4th- Practice playing new chords in new songs

Challenge yourself and learn new songs. This will help you learn new chords and also help your learn different strumming patterns and timing of strums. The more you research, practice and play the better you will become.

5th- Continue to practice and find new songs

Keep repeating these steps and you will get to the point where you can play any song you want just by looking up the tab for chords.
