Proposing Decentralized Upvoting Beat Battle League Among Steemit Music Producers

I seen a beat battle going on by @chiefmappster and supporting the Beat Battle with their time and resources are: @tuck-fheman , @jphenderson , @anomadsoul , and @derekmiller but I think we should come up with a better concept than to leave the voting to the judges. Having judges reminds me of centralization, where a group has the power to decide things instead of the people having the power to decide. I'm proposing we leave the voting up to the steemit music community to decide on who wins out of these beat battles.

It's very easy, the producer that has the most honest upvotes on their instrumental should be crown the winner. As I'm writing this right now, I can see the vision in my head. I just need to further plan out how it will work and how things should be setup or @chiefmappster can run with the concept & build around it by setting up all the rules and guidelines & also the prizes. I don't believe we should let a small amount of judges to decide who's instrumental beat is better, I think the steemit music community should be the judges. Also, I propose that we do not use any samples because that involves Music Plagiarism. I wrote about it here -

https://steemit.com/music/@instrumentals/musicians-are-you-posting-uncleared-sampled-music-on-steemit-or-music-plagiarism

We should let all producers be free to create how ever they wish to create without the limitations of having to use a sample. Sampling is fun, I love to sample but like I wrote, profiting from upvotes on an uncleared sample is Music Plagiarism. There should only be genre battles, such as 1 Week could be a Hip Hop Battle and the 2nd week could be an R&B battle, 3rd week can be a pop battle and so on until we come back around to Hip Hop Battle. This type of battling will bring out the best of the best Music Producers on steemit because it involves creating outside of their normal genre.

Any musician or steemit user who wants to be a judge, simply just has to listen to that producer's instrumental before giving them an upvote and the producer that has the most upvotes should be the winner. We can even go as far as setting up brackets for the participating producers so users have the chance to listen to 2 options before giving the producer an upvote. Round one will be 16 music producers on steemit that wants to participate and that round can be on a certain day, like on a Monday. After the community have voted on who's instrumental is the best, the winning music producer in round 1 goes off into round 2. Round 2 can be done on Wednesday because we need to skip a day so the winning music producers can create their beats for round 2 on Tuesday. We need to give them time because we are in the unknown about each music producer's daily life schedule.

After the week of battling is over, the producer who advanced to win the beat battle is the champion and I propose that the champion of all beat battles, automatically gets a place in the next beat battle to defend their title as the hottest music producer on steemit. I know that this Beat Battle is new but I just think that if we want this music producer fun to continue and grow, we need to build the foundation of it now and since we are doing it on the blockchain, decentralized voting is the only way to go.

What do you think about this @chiefmappster, @tuck-fheman , @jphenderson , @anomadsoul , and @derekmiller?

This is a decent idea. However, the judge system has the advantage of keeping the competition about the music rather than just a popularity contest. I'm afraid that with an upvote system, many of the beats won't be heard at all, because people will tend to just listen to the submissions from the artists that they follow and upvote without listening to all of the other tracks. At least with the judge system, everyone gets an equal chance to be heard.

Just my two cents. I do like your idea though. There might even be room for both contents on steemit as the platform continues to grow.

This is going to be awesome, another level of music production is on the corner of steemit. Anyone who thinks can do a good piece should participate and everyone who wants to learn must join in!

The idea of decentralization is amazing, it gives the people the power to decide who they want to be the beat champion! With that being said, it is not going to be a popularity contest, we must find a way to avoid biased vote inducing strategies and avoid that fellow producers worry about not having a lot of support in a follower base stance. That right there is where I think judging comes into the picture.

I adress this issue because we have all seen that DM with "Vote for X person please" and this is about the best producer, not the most popular one :D

I know exactly what you mean @anomadsoul and that's one thing I was thinking about, is how to avoid producers going around asking for upvotes. I was thinking that maybe that can be part of the rules & guide lines, if you're asking for upvotes, the producer should automatically get disqualified because that's cheating. What do you think because that's an issue that definitely needs to be address?

It is going to be hard because we dont want to censor votes or control them, but maybe we can make a small process for being able to vote. Like, not everyone can vote, you have to know and like music. Otherwise we could have a ton of, example, photo bloggers coming here voting for their mate who just started in the music business.

I am not a music or beat expert but I am objective about judging. Problem is, we need to discord this subject and drop ideas to avoid the issue stated above.

You have a good point @anomadsoul, that's an issue that really needs to get solved. We would need a much stronger & dedicated steem music community of musicians to come together to create such an upvoting system that supports because I think this can run huge for the steem music community.

This beat battle bracket leauge, just the idea of a music league within the steem community in general can even go as far as into the steem music artists having their own type of song battle bracket leauge. That's something that I would support and I would want the artists of the steem music community to do the same for the producer's beat battles when it comes to upvoting in the rounds.

A lot of brainstorming needs to be done...

I thought the judge system was flawed myself. I really appreciate every judges and every producers time and effort though. I would definitely participate again if these changes were implemented.
