Early black metal classic album. Burzum- Hvis lyset tar oss.

Hvis lyset tar oss, or: If the light catches us.

Burzum is known in Norway as Greven ( the Count). He was one of the early pioneers in black metal.

"the Count" lived the "black metal/ satanist" life to the full. He burnt down churches and was comitted for first degree murder of a friend/ musical partner. Because of this he was sent to jail for a long time.

I was never for the black metal scene nor do I have any sympathies for Burzums political right wing ideas. His early albums are still very interesting to listen to. Even though they are brutal and has typical black metall vocal they are also meditative. The album surpirsed me first timed i heard it. It is built up by droning guitars, howling lyrics and synth soundscapes.

First two songs are guitar based. Two last songs from time 30.20 are synth layers.

"Hvis lyset tar oss" is a masterpirece. If you take the time to listen to it with an open heart, you may be surprised.
