"We might as well take our fiddles and break them across our knees."

Episode #002: JASCHA HEIFETZ
Song: Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35: I. Allegro moderato

Jascha Heifetz (1901 – 10 December 1987) was a Russian born violinist. Many consider him to be the greatest violinist of all time. Born in Wilno, Russian Empire (present-day Vilnius, Lithuania), he moved as a teenager to the United States, where his Carnegie Hall debut was rapturously received. He was a virtuoso since childhood—Fritz Kreisler, another leading violinist of the twentieth century, said on hearing Heifetz's debut, "We might as well take our fiddles and break them across our knees." - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jascha_Heifetz

The day after the 19-year-old Heifetz’s London debut, George Bernard Shaw wrote him a now legendary letter. “If you provoke a jealous God by playing with such superhuman perfection,” Shaw warned, “you will die young. I earnestly advise you to play something badly every night before going to bed, instead of saying your prayers. No mortal should presume to play so faultlessly.” - http://jaschaheifetz.com
