This is a random dancey song

I did on Ableton last night. Nothing super original haha, I just discovered a synth tone (the beepy melody line) that I really liked, and sort of just built a simple song around it. This isn't a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, just a fun little mess-around session in Ableton... Anyway, let's get into it!

Listen to QUINDAR TONES here.

First up is INSTRUMENT 1,

which is a bass tone with a delay that hits on the upbeats, so even though I'm just playing staccato half notes, it feels like 1/4 notes with the delay. There are just 2 parts to the song, Verse and Chorus. In the Verse, this instrument just plays a simple progression, a low C is in every chord, and the notes above it descend from Eb, to D, to Db, and lastly just a C by itself. This happens 2 time each verse, except the 2nd verse, where we begin with an F/C instead of Eb, everything else is identical, and the 2nd time through is on Eb, so that's the only change. In the Chorus, this low C on the bottom continues, but we play the main harmony above, Ab, Bb, Db (flat 2 again), and ending on C. The second time through, it's Ab, G, C#----, and moving into the 2nd verse.

INSTRUMENT 2 is the beepy melody lines,

which over the verses plays full chords using the notes in the bass, so C/Eb, C/D, C/Db, and C, on the upbeat. It's got a reggae/ska sort of feel, adds to the goofy danciness of the whole thing hehe. The Chorus is where this instrument gets interesting, it is following the bassline's progression, but is adding in a little syncopated melody, generally in C minor, but we hit an Anatural, Gb (tritone) and the Db quite a bit. I like it the rhythm, it really makes the Chorus kind of wild, especially with the dissonant notes used.

INSTRUMENT 4 is the super fast

arpeggios that happen in the background. They are just the main chord progression, nothing too wild happening. INSTRUMENT 6 is also the same instrument, but just does a little build up (and volume swell) leading into the Chorus. I don't love that transition, but I was trying to write this song quickly, maybe I'll go back one day and fix it up, make it a little more smooth.

Last up is INSTRUMENT 6,

which is a second bassline. I felt like the first one was a cool tone, but didn't really add to the low end enough, so I added a second bassline. It basically fills in the top notes of the chords made by INSTRUMENTS 1 and 2, just in a different pattern to make things a little more interesting. At the end of the Chorus, it does a little descending riff that uses an Enatural and Gb, adds a little more movement and dissonant harmony to the whole thing.

As for the drums, I don't know

how well the kit I picked fits with an electronic, dancey, video-game music sort of song, but I do like rhythm. We begin with 3 kicks on the first 3 quarter beats of each measure. This basically continues for the whole track, but with more drums over it. The verse is a simple Kick-Hihat-Snare-Hihat dance beat (with the secondary kick on the 1,2, and 3), but with a couple variations to break it up. The Chorus uses the open hihat on the 1/4 beats, so it feels a little more straightforward. I also added a couple of double snare/clap hits to make it a little different than the verse.

That's all for now, got another guitar video I'm going to share tomorrow, so stay tuned! Thanks for the support, enjoy the song, and Steem On!

Wonderful post.I Love your musical post

thank you! I appreciate it!

Beginning reminds me of "Hooga chaka chaka hooga chaka chaka" from Guardians of the Galaxy. Love the fall off feel at 0:36-0:38 and 1:00-1:02. Trippy.

Haha I thought the same thing too haha.
