'Quantum Love' - New Original Music! Electronic/Experimental/Instrumental + Walkthrough!
I was experimenting last night in Ableton
with the Simpler, which allows you to play a sample like any other midi-instrument, and after playing around with the sample length, I accidentally created the cool glitchy cut out that happens to the synths in this song. I liked it a lot, so I built the rest of the song around that. It's a short one, and repeats the same progression, with a bass part that comes in a little after halfway, so maybe I will expand this into a more complete version. For now, let's go through it as currently is.
Listen to Quantum Love here.
Tracks 1 and 2 play our sample,
which is the main synth part you hear for the whole track. Track 2 is an octave below Track 1, and has a bit less of an obvious glitchy part, but fills out some low-end nicely when it happens. As you can see in the overview screenshot above, in Track 1, the length of the sample is being altered quite a bit. When it gets super short and then turns into 0-length, we get the cool glitch/cut out effect.
Track 4, the bass, described below.
Track 3 is our drums,
which begin with just kicks, then the staggered, off-kilter hihat parts come in, followed by the snare, which continues to the end of the song. Track 4 is our last track, which is a synth bass. However, synth the first 2 tracks have so much low-end, it gets a bit drowned out, so I will need to go back and EQ those a bit better to help clear some space for this track. I like the bass line a lot though, this instrument's portamento effect makes for some really cool slides.
I hope you've enjoyed the walkthrough and the song! Thanks for listening!
