This song was written last night,

and began as a random jam with organ/keys and drums. However, once I added the overdriven bass part (which felt kind of surf-guitar-esque) and the bass line, it really came into its own as a full song. I feel like it needs a bit more variation, as essentially each segment is just repeated, but for the time being, it works for sure. Let's get into the tracks.

Listen to Liquid Metal here.

Tracks 1, 2 and 3 are the drums,

with Track 1 providing electric drum kicks, Track 2 acoustic drum kicks, and Track 3 all the electric drum snare parts (different kit than Track 1). Simple beat, but each section is 5 bars of 4/4, so it makes things a little more interesting. Track 4 is next, which is a mallet sort of sound, however, I sidechained it to the organ so it only comes in during long rests, as it was too overpowering otherwise.

Track 5 is an organ,

into which I copy-pasta'd the kick drum rhythm, but moved notes around so they would fit into C minor. I really like how everything cuts out together with the kick rhythm in measure 5 each time around, cool effect. Track 7 plays the same progression, but only over certain parts, using an electric keyboard, and octave down.

Track 7 is our overdriven bass

guitar, which happens initially whenever Track 6 cuts out, but the second and third times around, it continues with a different riff when #6 comes back in. I have attached that below, so check out the screenshot to follow along with the tune.

Last up are Tracks 8 and 9,

which are our bass tracks: 8 is a bass guitar, super round sound, no overdrive, and 9 a synth bass to fill in the sustain of the notes the bass guitar hits. I follows the rhythm of the second half of the purple part in Track 7, but I moved notes around to get some nice harmonies between the tracks. Track 8 is also playing an octave lower, to really accent the super low end.

Hope you've enjoyed the walkthrough! Thanks for checking out my tunes!

You have a minor grammatical mistake in the following sentence:

However, once I added the overdriven bass part (which felt kind of surf-guitar-esque) and the bass line, it really came into it's own as a full song.
It should be its own instead of it's own.

ugggghhhhhhh FINE I'll fix it, lol.

Woot, woot! We are just flying by to let you know you've been featured in our Original Sunday post!
