The Hollies - The Air That I Breathe

The Hollies are a British

pop/rock band who formed in 1962, with members Allan Clarke and Graham Nash becoming friends during the Skiffle craze of the 50s, much like the members of the Beatles. They had a number of hit singles in the UK, although it took until 1966 for them to chart well in the US. Eventually, Nash would go on to form Crosby, Still and Nash. They were involved in a lawsuit against Radiohead in the '90s over their song Creep, claiming they had taken the progression from this track, eventually resulting co-writing credits on the song.

Listen to The Air That I Breathe by The Hollies.

You can definitely hear the portion

of this track that is similar to Creep (It's the exact same chord progression, I, III, IV, iv), but this song is WAY more complex in it's harmonies. They utilize that progression as only a portion of the Verse, and delve into some other really great progressions throughout the song, before arriving at the powerful, upbeat Chorus. Everything about this song is just really well-done, it's catchy/poppy, but still isn't afraid to use some intricate harmonies and unique chord changes.

Hope you enjoy the song! Thanks for checking out my blog!

I have never listened to this before and I like it a lot. I do see how they could have won that though, good lawyers are expensive but they had good success.
