Grapthar's Song of the Day: Sevish 'Ganymede'

Sevish - Ganymede
Sevish is an artist I discovered
through the music YouTuber Adam Neely, in a video about microtonal music. He is an electronic musician from London, who is known for using all kinds of strange, non-standard tunings to create really interesting and unique sounds. As far as I know, he only writes using microtonal tunings, including crazy things like 313 note equal temperament, typical 1/4 tone tuning (equal temperament with every half step cut in half again), and 22 tone temeperament, as used here. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of information online about him, but he does have a website you can check out here.

You can tell from this song
that he clearly has a strong background in electronic music, as a lot of the rhythms and synth sounds are clearly of that ilk, but harmonically he goes into completely new arenas. It is often difficult to listen to microtonal music initially, as in the West (and a lot of the East, particularly where Western music has had a heavy influence) we have no experience or reference point for it. However, I've found that the intervals and colors that are available make things really powerful, and of course strange, which I'm all about, lol.
