Edvard Grieg - Gavotte

Edvard Grieg was born in
1843 in Bergen, Norway and came to be one of the most famous composers of the Romantic Era. Like many other artists of the era, he had a deep appreciation for the his cultural folk music, and incorporated a lot of ideas from it into his compositions. He passed away in 1907 at age 64 from heart failure, but left behind a serious collection of pieces that have become staples in many modern orchestral repertoires.

I listened to a version
of this piece on Spotify earlier, but unfortunately couldn't find the exact one on YouTube. There are a number of orchestral arrangements, but the I think the solo-piano version is much cooler. I love the Romantic era, you can clearly hear the classical influences from the previous couple of a centuries on the musicians, but they also began to experiment and think outside of the box both harmonically and rhythmically, which slowly moved classical music towards the "modern" era.
