This song follows the same sort of theme

as 2 previous songs I've shared, with a 5th in the right hand that sort of just pedals the whole time, while the left hand of the piano part plays bass notes that define our harmonies. This is also in Ebminor, like the others, but doesn't utilize the parallel major tonic chord of Ebmajor at all, so it stays a bit darker than the other two. Let's get into it...

Listen to Galactiseconds here.

Track 1 is our piano part,

which is essentially just 2 main sections, the White parts, which takes 8 bars, and the Teal/Light Blue section, also 8 bars. I have attached screenshots of the 2 progressions below. As you can see, the right hand is mostly droning on the same Eb/Bb, while the bass (of the piano) begins on the sus4, then does a descending little line, which then moves back up for the second set of 4 bars.

Track 2 is next, which is the same

bass guitar emulation I used in the previous tunes. The bass line is also in 2 sections, Blue and Green. I have attached the blue section in the screenshot above, so you can follow along. Mostly, just root notes and 3rds or 5ths to harmonize. The bass also uses dotted quarter notes so the 2nd note in each measure comes in on an upbeat, unlike the piano right hand, making a cool little rhythm between the 2.

Track 3 just mirrors the bassline of

Track 2, using a synth bass that has a bit more sustain, just to fill the low end out a bit. Tracks 4 and 5 are marimbas and bells, respectively, and both follow the progression pictured below. It is the same as the piano parts, except all moved within 1 octave, rather than spread out across 2 or 3 octaves like the piano. I also added arpeggiators to these tracks, with Track 4 at a rate of 1/6, and Track 5 1/4, giving us a cool polyrhythm happening between the two.

Tracks 6 and 7 provide our percussion,

with 6 handling the shakers, congas and bongos, and Track 7 the wood block and clave sounds. I am not sure if these would ever be in finalized version of the song, but for now, they work well enough to get the general idea of the buildup and drop off across.

I hope you've enjoyed the walkthrough and the song! Thanks for listening!
