'Futurespeak' - New Original Music/Practicing Harmony! - Electronic/Instrumental + Walkthrough!!
I have been trying to have
a goal in mind for each song I've done the last few days, whether working with a specific mode, or using a specific rhythm, or in this case, trying to create some interesting harmonies/chord progressions that I normally might not use. I tried to question my own choices, and change things up so they would be more interesting. In this case, I think it worked decently. The main piano part is pretty cool, and I like the other harmonies I built around... I would definitely like incorporate some of these ideas into a full song one day, maybe arrange it in a different key, but use the same general feeling. Let's go through the tracks.

We begin the song with the main
piano progression: Cmaj7, Fsus4, Amin, Cmin6, Csus2, and ending on a weird one, AmajorSus2 (a B, C# and A, creating an extreme dissonance because of the 1/2 step above and below C). I like this progression a lot, it's really awesome how so many variations of just a C chord can create so much harmonic motion. Basically, we have a low C as a pedal note the whole time, while the middle and upper notes descend towards the C. You can see the progression below.
Track 1, described above.
Track 2 is the wooshing
wind sort of tone that transitions us into each subsequent section. Track 3 can be heard in the background, it's the quiet, high little mallet hits that come in, playing C, Bb, A, G#, Gnatural, and a high B before repeating, just adding some more harmony over Track 1.

Track 4 is our drums
which are relatively simple. I purposefully avoided any kick drum hits, and used the toms in place of it, giving it a bit more of a unique timbre to it, not just a typical drum kit. Track 5 is our bass line, which essentially just plays C's until the last chord of Track 1, when it plays a B. This instrument is a super subby bass, which sort of just swells up and down in the background, filling in the low end decently well.
Track 6, described below.
Track 6 is the bright
chimey synth melody that comes in. I sort of played a progression at random, and then moved notes around here and there to fit with the chords in Track 1. I like how this turned out, it's kind of whimsical and fun. Lastly, we have Track 7, which is a synth that sort of sounds like strings, but with a spacey element to it, and it mirrors Track 1, just adding some more thickness to the general harmony.

The end of the track has
a false fade out (which I call Fade Out Fake Out lol), then it comes back in double time, drops speed once more, then fades out double-timed again. I actually accidentally changed the tempo initially, but I thought it sounded kind of cool at a faster tempo, sort of drum and bass-y (the percussion at least), so I added the fast ending.
That's it for this one! Hope you find my walkthroughs interesting and enjoy the music! I am still working on those new guitar songs, but will share them ASAP. I also have some electronic songs (not exercises/practice songs) that I will be sharing this weekend too, so stick around!

The image of the song is really cool, it is a city in what appears to be the future? Good choice with the music.
Pretty brilliant track (as is the next track of yours Soundcloud has gone onto) and interesting to have it broken down to its elements. If I'm totally honest I wasn't fully convinced by the fade out fake out. Not the idea, which is fine, but the execution: the end of the fade is too abrupt, and too complete. Just my constructive feedback, obviously. Definitely a drum n bass feel. Wasn't sure what you meant by "our drums" exactly.
Didn't know this was your thing and will look out for more. What the heck is that Soundcloud background image btw?
