The Church - The Unguarded Moment

The Church are an interesting band,

formed in 1980 in Sydney, Australia. They began their career as a new-wave/pop-rock sort of band, though over time they began to use much slower tempos and more ambient/soundscapey sort of guitar lines, more in line with psychedelic/post-rock bands. They had a number of hits in Australia and the UK, and finally broke into the US Top 40 in 1988 with their single Under the Milky Way.

Listen to Unguarded Moment by The Church here.

This is a song from the

earlier portion of the band's existence, released on their 1981 debut full length Of Skins and Heart. The first 4 tracks on this album (of which this is #3) are all super great, catchy pop-rock songs that definitely have a bit of the new-wave vibe, though they are all a bit darker and more introspective than a lot of the other 'happy-go-lucky' sort of pop-tunes that were big in the early '80s. I really like the guitar tones here, they were doing some cool stuff with effects even before they got into the soundscape/post-rock vibe.

Enjoy today's song! Thanks for checking out my blog, and Steem On!
