What is the history of the names of some of the music groups?

in #music6 years ago (edited)

Groups often change their names, especially at the beginning of their career. Many of the cult groups can boast interesting stories about their names. Some of them have long thought of them, and others, figuratively speaking, have simply flipped the glossary of a page, making a word that has been world-famous for decades, along with its growing glory. For example Depeche Mode is named after the French fashion magazine "Dépêche mode". Dave Gahan visits Southend Art College for three years and reads fashion magazines, including French Mode Dépêche. He also gave the wonderful idea of renaming the band to a name that could easily be remembered: "Depeche Mode"

AC/DC

The well-known Australian band, pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal, was inspired for its name by an ordinary sewing machine. This abbreviation was wise on the sewing machine where the sister of Angus and Malcolm Young, founders of the group, sewed their stage costumes to school and means that the unit operates with constant and alternating current.

The Prodigy

There are no secrets here. Liam Hoolet, a creator and ideologist of the band, called it in the name of his first synthesizer, Moog Prodigy.

Kasabian

At the beginning, the band was called Saracuse, but later changed to Linda Cassaybone, the driver of the famous American killer Charles Manson, the founder of the Charles Manson Family of Pseudo-Commons.

Rammstein

The members of the German group deny a link between their name and the tragic air crash on Aug. 28, 1988 at the Ramstein base, when three airplanes collide during an airship with an Italian airborne pilot group. But they do not mention any other reason why they give their band name "Rammstein".

Linkin park

Actually, behind this name is encrypted Lincoln Park. But the word Lincoln was changed with Linkin because the linkolnpark.com site already existed and was not so cheap to buy, and the linkinpark.com domain was available.

Led Zeppelin

The name of the cult group has an interesting story. It was born in the midst of a scandal between Jimmy Page and drummer and bassist The Who who claimed Paige's project would sink like a lead balloon, ). After several games of words, the balloon became a airship or a zeppelin.

Duran Duran

The band members named is in honor of Dr. Duran-Duran - a character from the cult fantastic film "Barbara" with Jane Fonda in the lead role.

А-ha

"A-ha" sounds good in all languages, it's easy to remember and write, and it means approval. That's why Norwegians Morten Hackett, Magnus Fürühlheimen and Paul Voktor call their band that way.

Jethro Tull

At the beginning of their career, members of the group had problems with their concerts in London, so they had to change their name often to play several times in the same clubs. The band's band nominated Jethro Tull in honor of an agronomist, lived in the 18th century. With this name, the band was allowed to play at a club whose owner liked it very well.
