Meet Ukrainian band MORJ

in #music6 years ago (edited)

Ukrainian band from Kharkov called MORJ is perhaps the most unusual team of modern Ukrainian rock. I don’t even know whether to label a rock band's genre, as each of their songs is a new story, distinguished not only by words, but also by style and presentation.

Impressionism act in music, painting strange street artist "with black beads in the soul", which boldly involved endless poetry and spontaneous street gypsy, psychedelic shaman dance, improvisation, fierce pop, tango, reggae, romances, laughter and tears, philosophical obscenity, love, theater of a single watchman, painful trans-texts, impossibility of shrill monologues-poems, sincere crookedness, classical academism and touching verbiage - try to collect all this together and you will fail.

True, the musicians themselves talk about their work simply - “We play rock and roll.”

Five years ago I was incredibly lucky and I seen their performance, and for free. It was, perhaps, the first concert in my memory where I remained sober until the very last minute of the performance. Their music has a surprising effect on the listener. Even without knowing the words of the songs performed, it seems that you heard them and understand. They have some kind of pleasant magnetism, which rather quickly draws the listener into his ironic-nostalgic adventure.

So, let's listen to "Jewish cinematic."

The repertoire of the MORJ is Russian and Ukrainian songs, but the style of presentation does not suffer from this. There are really nice compositions, which are dragged into the whirl of dreams. One of these - "Пара с облаками в голове" / "Couple with clouds in a head." Soft, relaxing and light composition.

The music of the art-house MORJ troupe is quite specific, but in it the listener can easily find something close to him. Whether you are a brutal biker or a saleswoman in a kiosk. From their songs it becomes warm and fun. There are, of course, solid compositions, but they are also not without elegance.

Gypsy-Japanese Overture in E Minor for the Banjo “Дворник Ядовитый / Janitor poisonous”. A song that I could scroll through several times before. There is obscene language. I suggest to get acquainted with the acoustic version.

Despite the fact that MORJ is known in narrow circles, the group has a lot of interesting compositions and great potential. Having listened to them, you remain in bewilderment, such as “how it could be thought up at all”. But their music is wonderful and, most importantly, professionally.

Hope, you joy it^)

I love to discover music/musicians from other countries, so, thank you. I liked some of their songs and I downloaded one.

There is a lot of talent coming out of countries I had not thought of checking on. I'm better off now that I know to look ...

This is one of the few ways You Tube has been of benefit.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog. It's nice. I'm glad you enjoyed the music.
