Cool Collaboration of Modern Jazz & Traditional Bamboo Ensemble
Back in November 2018, me and my colleagues in Spektakel.id had successfully managed a cool concert. In this concert, we worked with a French band called Ozma, and a traditional music ensemble called Kencana Laras.
Ozma played their modern Jazz music, and Kencana Laras played their calung music. Calung is an ensemble of bamboo xylophone, a piece of rhythmic traditional music from Banyumas, Central Java.
We have the idea to put their music into a collaboration. Both Ozma and Kencana Laras agreed. So, we brought Ozma to the Calung headquarter, in a small town of Purwokerto. Ozma spent some days there to create their music with the Calung ensemble.
This concert was held to showcasing the result of that collaboration. The result was great. We had a blast!
