Spotify Changed Editorial Playlist Ecosystem

Spotify has personalized its editorial playlists. What does this mean? More chance for you as an independent artist to get featured on one of the official Spotify editorial playlists! In their own words:

Some playlists will now be personalized based on a listener's taste which means all music has a better chance of getting into the ears of the right listeners. This means that for those specific playlists, no two will be the same.

This is great news for all emerging artists, publishers and labels trying to get on editorial playlists. Spotify writes

These personalized editorial playlists increase the number of artists featured on playlists by 30% and the number of songs listeners are discovering by 35%.

We found that, after discovering a song through a personalized editorial playlist, the number of listeners who then seek out the track on their own for repeat listens is up by 80%. In fact, the average number of times a listener saves a track is up 66%—all of which is good news for artists.

But how could you show your fans, friends and family you're on a Spotify editorial playlist as no playlist is the same? Spotify lets you share a unique link with your song. When someone clicks that unique link, he or she will see the personalized playlist.

If you're one of the lucky few who's song(s) get added to an editorial playlist, Spotify will send an email notification to the artist (and/or their team), so they can share the news and unique link with their fans.
