Silversage - Wake Up (music review)

Silversage released their new track Wake Up in September, and it’s powerful. With passionate vocals and a thumping beat, this song is an anthem for rock.

The first thing to notice about this song is the range of influences and sounds from different bands that Silversage are pulling from. The pop elements from Coldplay, with a mixture of Fall Out Boy and Imagine Dragons with the strong voice and chanting chorus.

Their rock sound comes mostly from the authoritative voice of their lead male singer; it’s forceful and gritty, giving a great power to the track. This song really sounds like its pushing a message, and it’s certainly going to get in your head.

The song doesn’t have a particularly fast tempo, nor does it sound cheery or even happy, but it gives a sense of fight and hope. Classic rock influences are used in the instrumentals, such as drumming and guitar, yet electronic sounds are key throughout the verses, giving a range in tone.

An anthem is the best way to describe the track - one that you want to shout the lyrics to and fills you with a sense of belonging and strength. The chorus is quite familiar to many pop songs, with a repetitive melody and lyrics, but this works well to make an interesting and engaging song.

Silversage are certainly going to go far. If their amazing production and talent doesn’t push them, then their amazing range of genres to create the most compelling songs will. Their sound is perfect to listen to no matter what genre you’re used to, as their rock style isn’t hardcore or heavy. Their style is simple yet passionate, just how music should be.
