Classical Piano Music For You! - Relaxing! - Reverie (Villa D'Este) - Enjoy with Troy!

I submit to you some classical piano music for your listening pleasure. Take a moment and listen to Reverie (Villa D'Este). This is a little known piece by a rocker who entertained the world with hits like Allentown and We Didn't Start the Fire. Toward the end of Billy Joel's career, the piano man cam out with an album of compositions called 'Fantasies and Delusions'. The cover mimicked the old G. Schirmer publications of advanced piano studies one would take at a college or music conservatory. Yet there is some wonderful music here for the classical lover.

Jeffrey Biegel a pianist asked Billy Joel about a commission for a piano concerto in 2003. Joel recommended that Biegel use pieces from Fantasies and Delusions and form a piano concerto with that material. Biegel used music from four of the pieces: Sorbetto, Nunley's Carousel Waltz, Fantasy (Film Noir), and Reverie (Villa d'Este). The completed work entitled, Symphonic Fantasies for Piano and Orchestra, premiered in Greensboro, NC in 2006 by the Eastern Philharmonic Orchestra. Biegel was the pianist for the premiere.

Reverie (Villa D'Este)is about 9 and a half minutes, but worth every beautiful second! Fantasies and Delusions is what I believe to be his most under valued albums of music as it is truly exceptional masterpieces by a master himself. Enjoy this 2001 performance of this music by pianist and long time friend of his, Richard Joo.
