This song is written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong for Motown Records in 1966 and then masterfully sung by Marvin Gaye in 1968 for his album “In the Groove.” This song tells the tale of a man who hear through rumors about the affair of his girl. Song genre is better defined as R&B. Its lyrics are remarkable and Marvin Gaye vocals are beyond astonishing.

“Desolation Row” by Bob Dylan

This song is from one of Bob Dylan famous albums “Highway 61 Revisited.” This is more of a literary and poetic work. One which consumes the history of centuries. Its 11 min length time seems a mere second. From Romeo to T.S. Elliot, everyone plays a part in this masterpiece. Believe me; your heart will melt like a candle after hearing to this beautiful soulful song.

“Son of a Preacher Man” by Dusty Springfield

This song is written and composed by John Hurley and Ronnie Wilkins and beautifully sung by British singer Dusty Springfield in 1968 for the album “Dusty in Memphis.” Song is more of a Blue-Soul type with 2:29 min runtime. The lyrics are told in first person about a girl who falls for the preacher’s kid. But I’ve always thought it to be metaphorical.

This song is written and sung by American Country singer Johnny Cash. It’s the combination of popular folk styles like prison song and train song. It reached No. 32 on US Billboard Hot 100 and No.1 on US Hot Country Songs (Billboard). Its lyrics are immaculately fantastic. When you listen to it, you just can’t stop replaying it like a thousand times.

This song is by the English Band “The Beatles, (Like who doesn’t know about them.) It was released in Feb 1967. This band was different, they were known for their scientific experiments on music.
