Here's a little ditty from a show about 2 years back.... Ah, the memories....
So, as you can plainly see, this was from when I was still full-time drumming for my band (I am now the vocalist due to a departure from our original vocalist, and we are currently looking for a new drummer). It was always such a body high to be on stage performing, I miss it so badly. The ecstasy that you get from performing in front of people who actually react favorably to your music creates a vibe inside like no other. That's how I know that I was put on this earth to do this with my life, whether I make money from it or not. It was never about the money for me, nor will it ever be, even if we do get to that point. I just want THIS *points up at picture* feeling again. The thrill of being onstage and playing metal music to fellow metal heads that came to see a good show. And even though I'll be behind the mic when that time comes rather than behind the kit, I will regardless love it all the same. Music is in my blood, and I can't even go a single day without listening to it at least at some point in the day, so I know that I'm here for this. Fear not, Steemit, I plan to create a YouTube channel for my band so I can upload some songs onto it and in turn share them on here so that you can all be free to take a listen and see if we're your cup of tea. I must forewarn you though.... the recordings are not necessarily the most professional sounding, as we did it all ourselves without any previous knowledge on how to use the recording equipment we have.... we just kinda winged it and hoped for the best. So in that respect, they're not terrible sounding by any means given the circumstances, but they also weren't done with a pro engineer either.... I guess what I'm trying to say is, "bear with it" lol. Anyway, enough of my rambling for now. I've got some work to do....
Till next time, fellow Steemers. \m/
In your song you posted are you the growling psycroptic style vocalist or the clean vocalist that comes in later in the song?
@dwinblood Actually, the song I posted (as well as the others I plan to post in the next coming days) is from our first album, from before our original singer and second guitarist departed, so the guy you're hearing screaming is actually the original vocalist. And the clean vocals later in the song is actually our founding guitarist. However, you do still hear me on the recording. You know the blasting part in the song where the singer does a back-and-forth with another guy doing higher-pitched screaming replies? Well, that just so happens to be me. :)
Hmmm. You may have to share some more stuff at some point that has some more examples of you singing. You play guitar as well if I recall your introduction correctly. I also see you playing drums on some of your older parts. What is your OFFICIAL role in the band if I were to look at the band members and see the title next to their name?
Actually, I never played guitar in the band, I only dabble with bass a little bit, but that's on my own time. Officially, I was originally the drummer, and the drums in all of our recordings on our first album is me, as well as some occasional background screaming. But officially, as of recently, I have since been moved to vocals. And as of right now, we still have yet to record anything with me on vocals just because all these band changes kinda happened all at once, so we're still trying to recover from it. But our journey is far from over. We also may have just found someone to fill the drummer's spot finally, so more on that soon as well. Thank you for showing such interest in our endeavors @dwinblood ! I promise I'll keep the updates coming as soon as they happen! \m/
I'm a music fanatic. I love most music. I play a few instruments. I've composed music. Metal is my favorite genre, especially if it is metal that sounds different than what I've heard before. I like all kinds of music though. I am pretty eclectic. I don't buy and listen to POP music by choice, though I don't dislike it. Most of it just doesn't do anything for me. Yet, I still enjoy watching shows like The Voice, etc. I can watch musicians perform music I don't particularly care for and still enjoy it. I don't get that form of feedback from music I don't care for if I can't at least watch them.
So now you see why I take such an interest. I'd be interested in any musician doing things on steemit, but I am very fond of Metal.
The bands I am currently listening to the most Opeth, Nevermore, Haken, Fates Warning, Arch / Matheos, Psycroptic, Dream Theater, Twelve Foot Ninjas, etc.
I tend to go full on Prog Metal like Dream Theater when I want to see people perform something I could never perform myself. Kind of like watching an Olympic athlete. Yet, skill is not everything. Composition, Emotion, and just the overall feel can be equally important.
I listen to a lot of Non-Metal stuff too. I don't much care for RAP (old school), though some HIP HOP (if there is something musically interesting behind it) doesn't bother me. I really only have one type of music I hate. It is a POLISH form of Techno I was exposed to that literally is a bass drum beating basically a half note per measure, same note, no rhythmic variance, and once every 12 or so measures it might suddenly do a little melody on keyboard, accordion, etc that lasts about one measure. Short of that one melodic measure I could probably train my dog to play the rest of it. I DO NOT dislike Techno. I DO dislike that particular variant A LOT.
So that is more than you may have wanted to know... but at least now you know why you have my interest. My friend @kidsysco who is also on here is a bit of a music nut too. Though he does like RAP. So for RAP people that feel like I'm leaving them out, I have a friend that can pick up where I left off and handle the RAP side of things.
