The evolution of Australian alternative rock

in #music5 years ago

In the last few months I have been really enjoying some more mellow and alternative tunes. What i have noticed is that Australia has some excellent alternative/indie musicians, some of which are relatively unknown on the international scale

Sticky Fingers

Sticky Fingers combine a multitude of genres such as Indie, reggae and dub fusion. They have released four studio albums. One of their best tunes is the accoustic jam "cyclone":

The Beautiful Girls

The Beautiful Girls have gained some noteriety through Europe and toured a few times. They are more of a fusion of roots reggae with a nice touch of alternative rock. The album I find myself coming back to is 2010s 'Spooks'. Probably one of favorite tunes is Home_Family

Xavier Rudd

Xavier Rudd is an Australian solo artists who incorporates number of instruments into his music such as harmonica, slide guitar and even digeridoo! His music incorporates a number of styles such as blues, folk, rock and reggae. One of his most popular tunes is 'follow the sun':

Ziggy Alberts

Ziggy Alberts is someone I stumbled across recently. His music is a mix of soft rock and blues. Although not known to much internationally yet he does have some real cracker tunes. One of my favourites is the singalong tune 'Gone'

Im sure there are many more awesome Aussy alternative rockers but these are just a few i enjoy 😁😁
