MUSIC FOR BEGINNERS (#1: the STAVE and CLEF) - a free Steemit tutorial
Interested in learning music? Here's your start, and it's on Steemit! So you can learn music and earn Steem as you discuss and share your progress.
This series will focus on music theory. The first tutorials will help you learn the basics of music, so you can apply them to your instruments. And the lessons will be nice and short so you can feel a good sense of accomplishment as you go!
Lesson 1 : The Stave
Above is the stave (the five lines) marked with a treble clef (the squiggly boy). You may have seen the stave around. If you have the chance, go and buy or print out some stave paper and this will come in very handy. If you don't have one yet, don't fret!
The stave is like the lines in an exercise book - except instead of writing words, we write music! Depending on which instrument you have, your stave might not use a treble clef. For example, if you're playing a bass guitar you might have to use this badboy:
So your homework today is to research which clef your instrument uses! For extra credit, see how your clef relates to the stave! For example, your instrument might use a C clef - that clef points to the middle of the stave and tells you that the middle line is a C note. But be careful! Every stave is different and if you don't understand something it might be hard to unlearn it.
