Music Challenge, Day Two: A Song that Reminds Me of My Most Recent Ex
“It’s complicated.” Or rather, it was thirteen years ago. My “ex” had just ended our short-lived, long-distance relationship, and rather swiftly begun a new one. I was concurrently consumed by romantic feelings toward one of my classmates and fellow student teachers. However, we never held so much as the proverbial stick together. Our mutual favorite band of the time was Jimmy Eat World, and he burned a CD for me. Having turned “23” that fall, this song was of particular significance to me, with “Disintegration” a close second. I loved the gated reverb, before I even knew what that was.
