How Screamin Jay Hawkins put a spell on you???
Jay Hawkins was born in 1929 and from the first minutes of his life went to the orphanage. At the age of one and a half he adopted and grown up with music education. He learnd classic piano, guitar and his dream was to sing at the opera. Unfortunately life had other plans for him. He became a boxing champion and won the title of the gold gloves but he didn't gave up his love for music.At the second World War he amused the soldiers. In 1956 he and his band recorded one of the most popular songs since today, " i put a spell on you" were everyone was so drunk and high that they couldn't remember what they song until they heard their demo.One million copies were sold but the song was forbidden in some areas couse of the sexoual sounds. The label re-released the album without them.
The Screamin Jay Hawkins became famous not only for this song but for the most eccentric figure until then. Leopardal and sleek suits, snakes, big teeths, headcaps, capes, mad grenades, screamings, spells and especially his appearance on the stage in a coffin brought him to the top a bit.
He made six marages and had 33 officially recognized children.
