Ariana Grande Releases Hilarious New Video For “thank u, next”: Why It’s Important In Today’s Divisive Cimate
We don’t even have a month until Christmas, however, there’s still quite a bit of time left. Ariana Grande didn’t care though and she has presented us with a new video, starring Kris Jenner, Troye Sivan, her co-stars from Victorious and many other incredible individuals, for her new song “thank u, next” which debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts when it was initially released and is definitely going to keep its momentum after the music video hit today, in fact, it will probably become even bigger.
Today’s climate is extremely divisive. Society is broken into very many pieces with disagreements between people of different religions, races, nationalities. Ariana herself endured an absolutely tragic incident in Manchester. She has been recovering since, but the world really hasn’t. There are more countries at war right now than you would think. The divide is even as prominent as ever in The USA, where the main conflict is caused by varying political and societal views, making people forget the importance of unity and respecting other people’s opinions. This has lead many artists to make lots of social commentaries, criticisms, which continue to provoke our thoughts to no end and point out the problems and evils of our time.
So what then makes the seemingly silly Mean Girls remake so special and important? Well, I’m glad you asked. In this time of tension and hostility, we need something carefree, positive, something that helps us remind ourselves what it truly means to be human, to be together. Yes, this may not be the most meaningful video, but it’s the pure joy to be people and stand side by side in happiness that unites people, just like Ariana reunited with her friends in this delightful music video.
