Maynard James Keenan (Maybe) Promises New Tool Music Next Year

in #music6 years ago

It has seen 4,423 days since Tool released their last album ironically titled 10,000 Days in May 2006. It has all but become a running joke amongst fans and media that Tool's next album will be released in 10,000 days.

Briefly while accepting an award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards in his acceptance speech Maynard said:

"Thank you very much. I wouldn’t be here without you guys, so thank you very much for all that. A lot of work's being done. A lot of work's been done. I'll go on record now as saying you're gonna see some new music next year."

That's all he said. And it's worth noting that Maynard who is credited to many bands didn't actually say "new Tool music" and if you want to read into it further he actually said "you're gonna see some new music next year"

The limited details we do know about the follow-up album TBA is that all of the songs are allegedly going to be over 10 minutes long according to a Reddit user who attended a Tool clinic in St. Paul last month.

We do know that after settling a longstanding lawsuit, Tool has been working on new music and promising something "next year" since 2015 in a story reported by Spin. So, take the claim that new music could be Tool music in 2019 with a grain of salt.
