Calypso music

Calypso is an Afro-Caribbean music style that originated in Trinidad and Tobago in the early to mid-nineteenth century and spread to the rest of the West Indies and Venezuela in the mid-twentieth century. Its rhythms date back to the West African kaiso and the arrival of French planters and their slaves from the French Antilles in the 18th century.
