Tour Diary #2 - Kristiansand, NO

My second time to Kristiansand in Norway - I visited the city for their Sørveiv Festival in the fall. Sørveiv is a very nice little festival, and is very recommendable if you find yourself in Norway at that time. Kristiansand is a city in the most southern part of Norway facing the sea, and with a population around 90.000 it's the 5th largest city of the country.

This time i was here playing synthesizers in Blood Sweat Drum + Bass. I've played in the band since 2007 and my time at the music conservatory. It's a genre-bending big band with a slightly different take on things. We've played everything from middle eastern microtonal music, Aphex Twin compositions to hard rock. The band includes 27 musicians with a unusual rhythm group consisting of 3 drums, 2 bass players, 2 synthesizers, 1 guitar and 1 on electronics / live manipulation. Also a little unusual is that we have toured a little bit, which is quite expensive with so many people.

This time we featured Jørgen Munkeby who we have played with on and off since 2007. There's also a studio album from 2010 featuring Jørgen's compositions, which is good and features some of the arrangements we still play live:

If you don't know him then you should definitely check out Jørgen Munkeby. He's definitely one of the most talented musicians I've ever played with and is maybe most known for being the frontman of the norwegian avantgarde metal band Shining and as a former and founding member of Jaga Jazzist.
