DAY 5: 10 Song Lyric Challenge
Pieces of lyrics that have touched my heart during my life.
Title: INTO MY ARMS
Artist: NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS
Album: THE BOATMAN'S CALL
Year: 1997
Style: ART ROCK / ALTER ROCK
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds made this masterpiece love song in 1997. I think it does not lose any of its power through time.
It is the perfect combination of heart touching music and genius poetry.
I found 3 interesting information regarding this song in Wikipedia:
- Toby Creswell included "Into My Arms" in his book 1001 Songs: The Great Songs of All Time and the Artists, Stories and Secrets Behind Them, in which it is explained that melancholic lyrics of this song are a consequence of the break-up of Cave's long-term relationship with Viviane Carneiro. And also his subsequent short relationship and break-up with English musician PJ Harvey might have influenced the song.
- Nick Cave himself is counting this song amongst the ones he is the proudest of having written them.
- Cave also personally performed the song at the funeral of his friend, INXS singer Michael Hutchence.
I really love this song. Also, I am a fan of Nick Cave for many years. I visited his concerts 3 (!) times so far, still have tickets of all of them and they were all in Ljubljana, Slovenia:
11.6.1990, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds:
16.6.2005, Nick Cave solo:
30.10.2017, NIck Cave & The Bad Seeds:
