Day 18: A song from the year I was born
Blue Öyster Cult: Astronomy
From their 1974 album, 'Secret Treaties'. This song has multiple meanings for me.
Firstly, I was I was introduced to this song by Jaq D Hawkins, author of books on Chaos Magic and Elemental Spirits, as well the Dance of the Goblins fantasy series, during the several years we lived together. During that time we hung out on a popular and now sadly defunct chaos magic website, chaos magic dot com. There we formed online friendships with many magicians including St Christopholes. This particular magician formed a side forum to the main group called 'The Four Winds Bar', a name taken from a lyric in this song.
Secondly, the song itself is based on a poem written by bands producer, Sandy Pearlman. It concerns ultra-terrestrial aliens, known as Les Invisibles, who guide an agent hybrid through Earth history, influencing many of its events and testing the humans responses. Those who know me well enough will not need to ask why this is significant to me...
This challenge is a bit of fun, and not a contest. The idea is we find out about each others musical tastes, maybe learn some new tunes, and a little more about each other. To take part, start at Day 1 and post each day with a new tune, along with the meme image. Include the tags #music-challenge and #music and whatever other tags you feel appropriate to your post.
Optionally tag the person you copied (or who challenged you) and another person you'd like to see take up the challenge... ;)
