First Mushroom-Monday is complete (and winners chosen!)
Monday is over, and the first day of Mushroom-Monday is complete. I want to use this post to thank everyone that participated. Especially thanks to those who made a post using a tag, but I also want to give a big thank you to all the people who upvoted, resteemed and commented on the #Mushroom-Monday posts.
As I said in the introduction post, I will give away 5 STEEM to 3 people who made a post with this tag, so see below for the chosen ones.
Cascade Hike by @lightsplasher
In this post @lightsplasher shared some beautiful mushroom pictures from a hike in the Cascades, including some delicious-looking Boletus mushrooms. Sadly he could not pick them because it would be considered poaching (which I personally think is pretty weird when you consider that most Boletus species are mycorrhizal). Anyway, it is a great post with some nice pictures, so check it out!
The Haresfoot Inky Cap by @haphazard-hstead
In this post we get a very nice introduction to the Haresfoot Inky Cap mushroom (Coprinopsis lagopus), as well as some information on Inky Cap mushrooms, which are really fascinating mushrooms. They break down into a black goo once they complete their life-cycle, and this process might be extremely fast in some cases. The Haresfoot Inky Cap are sadly considered inedible, but there are some nice Inky Cap mushrooms that can be eaten if you pick them before they turn into “ink”.
Make sure to check out the post for some more information on this very cool species!
Mushroom-Monday by @gamer00
The mushroom season is finished in Finland, but @gamer00 still had a few pictures of mushrooms that he took before the season ended. Check out his post for some amazing mushroom photographs.
My own contributions
This Monday I posted two posts about mushrooms, but this time I focused more on biology than harvesting. The results were one post about how mushrooms can grow without photosynthesis and one post about the incredible amount of sexes that the Basidiomycota phylum can have. They turned out to be very profitable, so thanks to everyone who upvoted, resteemed and commented on the posts!
And the winners
I said I would pick three winners, and luckily, three people participated, so those three users get 5 STEEM each. The Steem has already been sent, so check your wallets ;) Thanks again for joining in posting on #mushroom-Monday!
Any more posts?
I have been having some problems with the tag system today, so I am afraid that I might have missed some posts. @haphazard-hstead also reported that he had problems seeing some of the posts that was tagged with #mushroom-Monday, so please let me know if I missed any!
See you next week
I will try to keep posting about mushrooms on every Monday in all foreseeable future, so keep an eye out, and feel free to join in on the fun!
Big thank you @valth! It is wonderful to see all the mushroom pictures and information. I'm glad to be a part of this! :)
Thanks, @valth - for hosting mushroom monday and the 5 steem! It's going to so great to have a Mushroom Monday. I'm sure I will make mushroom posts on the other days, too. But it's nice to have one day to celebrate fungus. And it gives new folks a specific way to participate on Steemit, where people will look at their posts. The tag problems look like they are still with us. I hope it's fixed by next Monday. PS: I be a she, not a he. ; )
Sorry for messing up your pronouns! For some reason I always imagined you as a male. I'm somewhat stuck with the old mentality that all people of the internet is a male until proven otherwise :P
It's a-ok. I have a feeling that many folks here have the same impression - maybe for the same reason as you. I'm not much for taking pictures of myself -- I haven't even made an avatar yet -- so I'll remain a source of confusion, lol. I never know who anyone is, so I just use "they" instead of any gender.
Using "they" as a pronoun is pretty smart! Maybe I will use that strategy as well, so I don't make the same mistake again :)
That's language evolution in action! ; )
