Picture taken by me next to the mulberry tree I planted in backyard ;D

I love to eat colorful berries
A special one sweet yet dark
It is not round like a blueberry
Stretching the night sky it arcs

Lusciously rich yet not a strawberry
Tis the color of royal and luxurious
The mystical color of night fairies
Evoking magick of the mysterious

Magnificently vivid yet not a cherry
Blossoming after white winter cold
Its color may appear dark and scary
Complimentary color of whitish gold

The gift of the earth to fight disease
Eat this berry to stay young; not old
Peaceful heart, blood sugar, liver eased
Yet message of leadership courage bold

It sways with the wind flexible and strong
I speak of the Peaceful Pakistan Mulberry tree
This specific variety rhyming with poetic song
What color am I; do you feel, taste, and see? =)

The color is violet? purple! Delicious looking berry, yum!

Somewhere along those lines. =D yummm indeed. nom nom nom.

Terrific answer to the challenge! Lovely pictures. I like the presentation on the plate in the first image especially.

I enjoyed the whole creation process of this poem.

  1. The prompt you shared of creating a poem about a certain color without naming it
  2. coming up with ideas dealing with the color
  3. picking fruit in the backyard
  4. taking pictures
  5. creating the post
  6. and of course my favorite part, EATING the mulberries! =)

I happy you found the prompt so fruitful as inspiration. Say… Do you make mulberry wine too?

That was a great comment! haha. I have been entertaining the idea of creating a mulberry mead with a nice raw organic honey. I have not yet made a mulberry wine yet though. Do you make some of your own wine?

No, I don’t make any kind of liquid spirits. However, a great aunt used to make her own mulberry wine. Nowadays in the States, it’s mostly something no one does anymore. There are so many laws and regulations about food and beverage production that not many folks will even try to do it on their own.

It is nice to go back to our roots; especially with gardening, preserving, and food as medicine. Nature supplies abundance, deliciousness, and treatment for all. Many regulations are such a joke these days with legalese mumbo jumbo that can't be understood. The Declaration of Independence and Constitution that set a country free from tyranny are dwarfed titanically by the tax code and regulations that enslave a nation.

Except… the reason for such stringent regulation of alcohol/spirits is that it can be a dangerous risk if not properly prepared, packed, and stored. There are valid reasons for many regulations. But, the tax issue… I’m right there with you in agreement!
