Great Chinese 8 course meal at Hee-rae-deung in Gangnam

풍부한 맛(이라 쓰고 엄청난 칼로리라고 읽는다)이 더 든든하게 느껴진달까요? * ㅁ *
오늘은 최근 먹었던 중국 음식 중 가장 맛있었던 남산 희래등 소개할게요~

I love Chinese food especially in winter. The rich flavor makes me feel more satisfied and there are many kinds of hot Chinese food, which are boiled or fried. I'd like to share my dinner at Her-rae-Deung, famous Chinese restaurant in Seoul, Korea.

40 years ago, Hee-rae-deung was originally located at Namsan, the mountain at the center of Seoul. That's why it is called "NamSan Hee-rae-deung". At that time, Korea was changing so quickly after Korean war, and the restaurant was a famous place for gatherings of diverse people. As the Namsan area was developed, the owners, two brothers, opened restaurants each in Daebang and Daechi. Now only two genuine Hee-rae-deung exist even though there are a lot of restaurants with same name.

하지만 대치동 희래등의 전신은 예전에 정말 유명했던 중국 식당인 남산 희래등!!
남산 희래등이 외국인아파트 철거로 없어지면서 형님분은 대방동에, 동생분은 대치동에 희래등을 시작하게 되셨다고 해요. 희래등이라는 상호명이 여러 곳에 있는데 진짜 원조는 대방동과 대치동 두 곳 뿐이라고 하네용. :)

The restaurant was practically in basement of that building so I had to walk down the narrow stairs. The restaurant was quite spacious but looked outdated so I wondered if it is really famous. If so, I really wanted to know why. :p

처음에는 입구도 좁고, 지하로 내려가는 계단 때문에 좀 의아했지만 막상 내려가보면 식당 내부가 상당히 넓어요!
그래도 너무 간단한 회식 정도는 문제 없이 할 수 있을 듯!

There was a variety of single dishes and 4 kinds of Jung-tak, course meal. The costs of Jung-tak were varied from $35 to $65 depending on the numbers and kinds of food. Tip) this restaurant doesn't have delivery service, which is very common for Chinese restaurant in Korea.

남산 희래등 메뉴는 정말 다양했는데
저희는 남산 희래등에서 유명한 코스 메뉴인 "정탁"으로 주문했어요.
정탁 코스는 40000원부터 70000원까지 총 4가지가 있는데 제가 먹은 게 뭐였는지 모르겠다는...-ㅁ-
자주 찾게 되는 단품 메뉴인 짜장면은 6000원, 짬뽕은 7000원, 탕수육은 소 19000원 중 31000원이에요.
앗, 참고로 여긴 배달은 하지 않아요~ 오직 매장방문!!

I entered into a room with friends. Everything looked old but clean and neat. Whenever new food was ready, an waitress brought a big dish or pot into our room and served it to small dishes for each of us. I didn't want to interrupt the dinner so took pictures of mine only.

저희는 룸으로 들어가서 자리를 잡았어요.
오래되어 보이지만 깔끔하고 정갈한 테이블 세팅이 고급스러워 보였구요,
문을 닫으니 조용하고 아늑한 분위기가 모임을 하기에도 참 좋았어요.
메뉴는 큰 접시에 가지고 들어오시지만 개인별로 작은 접시에 하나 하나 담아서 따로 가져다 주세요.
음식 뜬다고 앉았다 일어났다 번잡스러워지지 않아서 참 좋더라구요.
조용한 분위기 좋아하시는 어른들과 식사할 때 참 좋을 것 같아요. :)

1st. Sam-pum-naeng-Chae: Three Chilled Salads with jellyfish, cucumber, duck egg, boiled shrimp, and Five Spice Sliced Steamed Pork. Refreshing taste!
2nd. You-san-seul: Stir-fired seafood and vegetable. It softly warms up your stomach.
3rd. Kan-so-sae-woo: Deep-fried Shrimp in Spicy Sauce, which raises an appetite.

우선은 삼품 냉채로 입을 개운하게 하고, 유산슬로 속을 따끈하고 부드럽게~
그 다음에는 매콤 달콤한 간소새우 (깐쇼새우) 로 입맛이 좌르르 돌아요.
와.. 깐쇼 새우 정말 맛있었음 ㅋㅋㅋ 계속 들어감 ㅋㅋ

4th. Deep-fried mushrooms in Spicy Sauce. The mushroom tasted like meat in texture.
5th. Sweet and Sour Pork. Crunch outside and soft inside. very good! (I was already full at this moment. :p)

깐쇼새우와 맛이 비슷했던 버섯 튀김. 통통한 버섯이 고기처럼 씹히는 맛!
탕수육을 먹을 때쯤에는 벌써 배가 불러왔어요 ㅋㅋㅋ
햇님군에게 조금씩 양보하며 안 먹었으면 나중에 식사는 못 먹었을 것 같아요 ㅋㅋ

6th. I thought now we have main dish but it's not. There was one more step, Dumplings with Stir-fried Chili Pepper and Pork. :o

이제 식사가 나오나 했더니 꽃빵과 고추 잡채가 등장 ㅋㅋㅋ
맛은 가장 쏘쏘

7th. Finally!! Noodles: Jajangmyeon (Noodles with Black Soybean Sauce). Gi-su-myeon (Noodles in Chicken Broth). Jjamppongmyeon (Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup) I chose JJamppong and my hubby chose jajangmyeon, and we shared. The jajngmyeon was one of the best 3 jajangmyeon in my life. * o * Especially the noodle was superb! It was handmade noodles and harmonized with the sauce perfectly.

그 다음에야 식사가 나왔어요~ 짜장면, 기스면, 짬뽕 중에서 선택!
저는 삼선짬뽕, 햇님군은 짜장을 시켰는데 태어나서 먹은 짜장면 베스트 3 안에 듦. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

짬뽕도 맛있기는 했는데 짜장면의 임팩트가 너무나 컸어요
짬뽕은 걸쭉하고, 찐한 국물 좋아하는 분들은 싫어하실 수도 있는 깔끔하고, 조미료 맛 안 나는, 담백한 맛!
짜장면은 양념도 양념이지만 면이 정말 최고최고
쫠~깃하고, 양념과 물아일체가 되어 입 안에서 촤르르륵~

8th. Sweet yellow peach. It was a simple and nice desert.

I'm not sure if the order and menus of the course were appropriate for traditional Chinese style. Chinese food has been adapted to Korean style for a long time in Korea.(like in everywhere) I'd like to visit China to have genuine Chinese course meal!

마지막으로는 입가심으로 황도 두 조각.
달달하게 잘 마무리하고 나왔어요. :-)

I hope you to visit the 40-year-old tradition of Hee-rae-deung someday!!
