In Spanish it is called Mezquita – from the Arabic word masjid (mosque).

It was Andalusia's most famous mosque (given the fact that it was converted into a Cathedral).

🔸It was built by Abdul-Rahman ad-Dakhil in (170AH – 786 AD) and later by his son Hisham I.
