Ma'hadal Islamic Educational Institution Ulum Diniyyah Islamiyyah Mesjid Raya (MUDI Mesra) is located in Mideun Jok Village Kemukiman Mesjid Raya, Samalanga District, Bireuen Regency of Aceh Province. Dayah MUDI Masjid Raya has been established along with the construction of the Grand Mosque which laying the first stone was done by Sultan Iskandar Muda (1607-1636 AD). The leader of this dayah is known as Faqeh Abdul Ghani. But unfortunately this treasure is not recorded, how long he leads this institution, and who his successor then.

It was not until 1927 that there was a clear account of this Dayah leadership. From this year Dayah is led by al-Mukarram Tgk. H. Syihabuddin bin Idris with the santri of the time numbered 100 men and 50 daughters. They are raised by five male teachers and two female teachers. In accordance with the conditions of the era at that time, residential dormitory of the students are makeshift barracks built from bamboo and rumbia.

After Tgk. H. Syihabuddin bin Idris died in 1935 Dayah led by his brother-in-law al-Mukarram Tgk. H. Hanafiah bin Abbas or better known as Tgk. Abi. The number of students during his leadership slightly increased to 150 men and 50 daughters. The physical condition of the dormitory building and the study hall is no different from that of the late Tgk. H. Syihabuddin bin Idris, still in the form of makeshift barracks. During his leadership, the task of leading the dayah was seconded to Tgk. M. Shaleh for two years, when he went to Mecca to perform Hajj and gain knowledge.

After the late Tgk. H. Hanafiah died (1964 AD) the pesantren was led by one of his son-in-law, Tgk. H. Abdul Aziz bin M. Shaleh. Almukarram is often called by Abon's call is held "al-Mantiqi" because of his specialty in midwife logic. He is a student of Abuya Muda Wali led by Dayah Bustanul Muhaqqiqin Darussalam Labuhan Haji Aceh Barat.

Since his leadership, the pesantren has continued to grow in students mainly from Aceh and Sumatra. In terms of facilities and infrastructure has been developed. The construction of the lodge began to be changed from makeshift barracks to a two-story semi-permanent dormitory and three-story permanent dormitory. For female students built two-story dormitory that can accommodate 150 people sandri on the second floor, while the ground floor is used for mushalla.

After Tgk. H. Abdul 'Aziz bin M. Shaleh died in 1989, this change of dayah leadership was established through the agreement of the alumni and the community. After going through deliberations, the alumni entrusted the dayah leadership to one of Abon's daughters, Tgk. H. Hasanoel Bashry bin H. Gadeng. He is a senior student graduated dayah itself who has experienced managing the dayah leadership since Abon started sickly.

In the leadership of Abu MUDI, the dayah is progressing rapidly. The number of students who study at dayah tesebut increasing. These students come from various regions both inside and outside the province of Aceh.
