Fluency in Silence....
"So if you are too tired to speak, sit next to me, because, I too, am fluent in silence."
In this quote, J. Arnold captures a beautiful moment, that is ignored constantly.
I like spending time with people I love, chatting with them is fun, learning about things happening in their lives is entertaining, but I also like having them there, sharing the space, with no words spoken.
I like this because I learn from their silence too. it gives us a chance to be in our own thoughts, while still in close proximity, enjoying that physical closeness.
But, I don't like it when they are bored with the whole thing, I don't like it when we think of things to talk about, and it bothers them. It bothers me that it bothers them, it ruins the fondness we should be enjoying, as we will now be consumed with the obsession of doing something interesting.
