The First Fictioneers Live Radio Broadcast on MSPWaves!
We went live tonight with our first Fictioneers MSPWaves Radio broadcast. Not perfect, not seamless, but we had a good time. We interviewed author Bob White, whose eight novels have gained good traction with readers, with a ninth novel due for release soon. Bob may join us again for more writer talk, and we’re really looking forward to that. Learn more about Bob White HERE.
As for me--I’m exhausted! Live broadcasts aren’t a walk in the park. We had various technical difficulties and disasters, but in the end, we pulled it off. We had a great crew of Fictioneers in the studio, including @anarcho-andrei, @GMuxx, @jasonbu, @jimitations, @geke, @lenadr, @pegasusphysics, @thinknzombie, @darxide403, and @uniwhisp. @jhagi.bhai and @unprovoked helped us out in live chat. The sheer number of people we had step up to help with this show makes a huge statement about the enthusiasm and commitment of our MSP Fiction Workshop members.
Technical and timing issues prevented the recording of our first show, but we can at least give you a brief recap.
- Anarcho-andrei gave our listening audience an uncensored peek into his personal thought process.
- Jimitations blew us away with a fantastic improv introduction, demonstrating once again his level of professionalism and skill.
- Rhondak bumbled and stumbled over something she can’t even remember.
- PegasusPhysics did a lovely job of reading our critique submission for the week, short story “Nurse Cow” by @deltatrek, who graciously allowed us to use it.
- We unanimously agreed that his opening line about constipation might be one of the greatest opening lines of all time.
- We took turns discussing what works and doesn’t work about the selection, again unanimously agreeing on certain “telling” lines that should be snipped from the final draft, and that the story itself is a great testament of deltatrek’s natural ability.
- Rhondak stumbled and bumbled some more.
- Bob White joined us after @discordiant worked hard to resolve his microphone issues. Bob told us about his writing background, including the fact that he published his first short story at age 17. He talked about publishing eight novels, with a ninth due for release soon.
- I asked him to define “procedural,” which his books qualify as. He talked about his decision to be an “indie” author, and how he hasn’t regretted it. We discussed traditional publishing, and how difficult it is to get an agent or a book deal. He told us about Tony Petrocelli, the star of his Petrocelli books, and how the first novel in that series came about. We talked about the worst critique he’s ever gotten, the worst critique I’ve ever gotten, and decided that the givers of those critiques shall forever remain nameless.
- All of us present for the radio show got the chance to introduce ourselves and tell a little about what we do and what we write.
- And it was a wrap.
We’ll be live on the air every Tuesday at 11:00 UTC, which is 7 p.m. EST. Times are subject to change, so please keep an eye on the MSPWaves website for the most up-to-date scheduling information.

F*in brilliant. You are a goddess @rhondak!
haha got one from me too!!! I agree fully
She denies it, but we know the truth!! :D Thank you.
I had to give that an upvote. LOL
No goddess here, but I try really hard. LOLOL
Humble goddess, for sure, but goddess all the same! :D A goddess can often not see her own magnificence!
Great show and lots of fun. Bob was a fantastic guest and good sport.
Great premiere show! Well done! Everyone loved it!

MSP Waves Radio
Thank you, @sircork! Truth of it is, none of this would be even remotely possible without the hard work you and the asst station managers are putting in. We are so grateful. I certainly am. Bob White emailed and said he had a blast, and will gladly come back. Hopefully we can get him all the way to Steemit this way. :-)
Good work. Recruit 'em! And thanks to the team that supports me, so we can support you!
What a fun gig! And I didn't even think I'd talk. It's just that I can't let @jimitations have the last word...
@geke, I can't tell you how much it meant having you and Jimmie there. Whenever possible, please join us. Be picking out a poem that comes through your workshop, and we'll have a go at it one show. :-)

That was fun, even if my wife came home right as I was introducing myself lol
LOL!
Anyone who hasn't tuned in definitely should. It was an amazing show. There were many speakers and it kept the show lively and fun. The critique was super positive and just listening made you re-consider your own style and errors you make.
You were indispensable in the audience chat. Thank you so much for helping us. :-)
