It can only be iconic after having several years pass under its belt but there are a few that have immediate cult followings!
Perhaps you need to get out more. Some of my favourite films from recent years include 21 Jump Street, The Big Short, and, Dunkirk. Also, we have more entertainment choices these days. There was not many choices back in the 1980s. Now we have computer games, we quote references from World of Warcraft, Halo and League of Legends. I am reluctant about some movies now such as Social Network and Zero Dark Thirty, I now recognise them as propaganda, selling false narratives.
Shape of Water, Hollywood version of Japanese tentacle sex.
May the Schwartz be with you.
I have the same thoughts. I think it has to do with the seizure of power by the banks in 2008/2009. Since then, I find no new movies I really want to see. Think about the "love comedies". No love involved any more, and certainly no comedy.
