Why the fuck should you watch “Galveston”?
• You like to see movies that are actually like a real life.
• You know we are living in a fucked up world, that has no mercy, and want to see movie about it.
• You like to watch movies that have no real point.
• You have seen too many good movies this year and want to restore the balance in your life.
Our protagonist Roy (Ben Foster) finds out that he has a deadly disease - He is not a good man, he does dark things for money. The next moment he gets a certain job, where he is betrayed and barely makes it out alive with a 19 year old girl Rocky (Elle Fanning), who he saved from certain death. The movie follows Roy struggling to do something good before he dies.
It is not a happy Christmas movie. It’s dark, it’s brutal, it’s desperate and real. Sounds like a good drama action? Well, it’s not. The plot really goes nowhere, it lends plot points from different movies and leaves you graving for something else in the end. The movie is basically like a life of many people in our world: You start off with good intentions and then it’s suddenly almost over and everything is fucked and nothing was achieved.
If you have a too fun life and really want to change that for a moment, then I recommend this movie, otherwise don’t bother and live in your pink fairy tale life, eat cupcakes and go see a new Aquaman movie or something. (Yes the WTF review of that will come soon - …just getting that quick promotion in here, because I don’t want to write about Galveston anymore. It makes me too depressed.)

• You are a child - It’s not a movie for you. Neither are these reviews. Go to bed.
• You have some problems in your life but still think everything will be OK. No need to kill that hope.
• When fucking around with stereotypes of bleak peripheries of USA isn't enough for you.
• You expect some nihilistic, deep and mind-penetrating Nic Pizzolatto stuff and don't want to be disappointed.
