Death Wish movie review

Action films are a dime a dozen nowadays and there is no exception with the revenge-thriller sub-genre. However every once in a while one comes along that is just so darn entertaining it is hard not to talk about it. I wasn't exactly sure what I was getting myself into with this one as every time I see Eli Roth's name I immediately get sick to my stomach. I absolutely loathe the torture-porn genre that Eli Roth has contributed to for years and didn't how to feel about watching an action film directed by him. Surprisingly I enjoyed every minute of this ultra-violent revenge fueled thrill ride of a movie and I give Eli Roth props for doing such an outstanding job.

Yes the plot has been done before and no it doesn't bring anything groundbreaking to the mix but it is just so darn fun. Every gunfight and fight scene felt very real and made me feel like a part of the action. I felt the urge to duck my head whenever things got intense and cheered the protagonist on as he goes from small-time vigilante to full-on wrecking ball! The performances were great overall by Willis as well as co-star Vincent D'onofrio whom I find fantastic in everything he does.

I will say this film is not for those with weak stomachs as this film features Eli Roth's signature detailed bloody violence and gore. Overall a fun time and extremely well done for a remake, I give Death Wish a 3.8 out of 5!
