Comment on the movie "Black Sunday (1960)" (La maschera del demonio)

Outstanding production. I'm sure had I watched this film in my childhood, I would have been deeply impressed and scared, but now I'm more impressed with how it was done: it looks terrific, those sets and rich dark atmosphere of gothic horror, based very loosely but faithfully in atmosphere on Nikolai Gogol's story. Never mind the dialogues, they at times are pretty annoying, but otherwise the picture is memorable, the composition is perfect; it has all that a real horror picture should have, it left an indelible mark on the genre.

Verdict: a must-watch especially if you are a horror fan and want to know the origins.
