RE: Netflixing: Jaws

Smart work again by @talanhorne sir...
Exquisite filmmaking! Due to production woes in Jaws, Spielberg had to hide the shark for most of the runtime. But when it finally shows up on screen, it's a real shock. The director not only nails the terror and suspense, but the quieter moments too - like Brody goofing around with his son, or Quint's haunting Indianapolis monologue. Props as well to screenwriters Peter Benchley and Carl Gottlieb for finding moments to leverage suspense with humor.
Memorable characters! Jaws boasts a stellar cast - most prominently Roy Scheider as aquaphobic police chief Martin Brody, Robert Shaw as crusty shark hunter Quint and Richard Dreyfuss as enthusiastic oceanographer Matt Hooper. The clashing personalities produce fireworks during the film's second half. Watching these three men on a road trip would be compelling. Watching them hunt a 25-foot, three ton great white shark is electrifying.

The music! John Williams composed a deceptively simple theme that embodied so many elements of the shark - menace, drive, power. To focus on the main, two-note theme would be a disservice to the rest of the score. Jaws transitions from horror to adventure, and so too does the music. Williams fashioned what he called "pirate music" to coincide with the high seas excitement of the film's second half.

Enjoy your life...watched good films...
Thanks...
