I repeat it’s a spoiler review, so lots of spoilers ahead. I will discuss the movie in random order.
So, I watched the movie for the second time so now I appreciate it even more. I will try and find time to see it for the third time, because I think the more you see it, the more you like it.
Now let’s start. I still can’t believe that Marvel had the courage to show a villain that actually wins against our favorite heroes, even as they leveled up their powers, it was not enough to win against the six infinity stones. Or even a few of them. They gave it everything they had, and it was not enough.

The Ending - I mean the finale scene. The first time I saw the movie on opening weekend, many people in the screening that I was in gasped in shock. Some almost in tears. But, I am familiar with this plotline from the comics, so I knew it was coming. However, because Marvel said that this was a complete movie and not a two-part movie with Avengers 4, I expected everyone to die it in the middle of the movie. It was a surprise that they choose to end their movie this way. It was done so well that I was shocked, but less than everyone else. Also, I didn’t believe that Marvel had the guts to do it, it does take some serious guts to kill off half of your cast, some of it super popular, even if it is just temporary. I mean that there will be a lot less Spider-Man, Black Panther, White Wolf and many more in the next movie. It was a very bold and unMarvel like choice and I wonder how people will feel about it in the long run. On the positive side we will get a lot of the original Avengers in the next movie.

Tone – the general tone of the movie was much less happy, lighthearted Marvel. Most Marvel trailers promise gritty, dark movies and usually fail to deliver. This movie did not. Sure, it had some jokes in it, a lot actually, and pop-culture references and actually some meta references. I mean Peter Quill gaining weight was definitely a reference to real life in which Chris Pratt gained weight since his divorce. Also, the jokes about Thanos’ appearance look like they were pulled out of Twitter. Same thing with the beard joke. I will never forget Rabbit Raccoon, and Star-Lord going boom and falling in Dr. Stranger’s magic holes is already a famous GIF. This was balanced out by some serious men tears in this movie. Tony cried, Loki cried, Thor cried, I felt their pain. In the end, I felt the of the movie was much more dark and epic than any Marvel movie. Again, that’s a bold choice which I appreciate.

Action – It was great seeing Team Captain and Team Iron Man were both fighting Thanos at the same time in different locations. Even if they didn’t know it. Team Cap was fighting Proxima Midnight and Corvus glaive, while Team Iron Man and Guardians of the Galaxy were fighting Thanos on Titan. The transition between both set-ups and both major fight sequences was flawless in my eyes. And the action was spot on. We actually got an A-Force tease and I want that movie like yesterday. Wathcing Black Widow, Okoye and Scarlet Witch fighting together was amazing. I want more of that and now. Also, did you notice that the Avengers theme music was on only when Captain America was on screen? Needless to say, I thought the action was great.

Upgrades – Some characters really leveled up in this movie. Iron Man has a super new suit, the Iron Spider Suit was amazing, Dr. Stranger fighting Thanos was so awesome, Wanda’s powers seemed to have grown a lot, and who knew that Mantis can actually be useful in a fight. They still all got defeated, but that just shows how strong Thanos is. Perhaps Avengers 4 will explain the source of his physical power.

Things I Didn’t Like – Not enough Team Cap in this movie. Captain America and Black Widow were barley in the movie. I want to see more of them. We didn’t even get an explanation for why Black Widow is suddenly blond. We did get a lot of Iron Man, but I think he should have gotten less screen time. Also, Captain America and Iron Man didn’t even meet in this movie. I feel cheated out of a conflict/reunion there. Also, Gamora’s death was so not well done, she had nothing to do in this movie, she just died to serve Thanos’ plot, not cool. Also, since Heimdall died first, a black dude died first in this movie, that is such a cliché that I can’t believe that Marvel did that. Also, can’t believe that Loki died in the first five minutes of the movie.

Post Credit Scene –Yes, they teased Captain Marvel. Not only that, but Nick Fury called her as a last resort to save the day. It’s like Marvel watched Wonder Woman and her role in Justice League and decided that they need to make her better, more awesome and more popular. The best way to do that is simply to give her a central role in Avengers 4. I really hope they won’t mess it up.

I can talk about this movie endlessly, but this will do for now. This movie was just such a blast, I am so pleased. While Avengers: Age of Ultron was somewhat of a disappointment, I feel that this movie lives up to the hype.
