10 Facts About Kingsman: The Secret Service That Will Blow Your Mind

Hey movie marauders! Kingsman: The Secret Service was released in 2015, and got great reviews. This prompted a sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which comes out September 22, 2017. I was surprised how much I loved Kingsman, because I thought it wouldn't be that good. It turned out to be my favorite spy movie and an amazing adventure. Let's take a look at some fun facts about Kingsman: The Secret Service:

1. Taron Egerton (who plays Eggsy) is actually scared of dogs (he hopes that the sequel will have cats in it).

2. In the comics, actor Mark Hamill is the first celebrity to be kidnapped by Dr. Arnold. In Kingsman: The Secret Service, Mark Hamill plays Professor James Arnold.

3. The scene where Harry Hart fights people in the church took 7 days to film. The underwater dormitory scene (which was more complicated) took 1 week and a half to film.

4. Colin Firth (who plays Harry Hart) did 80% of his own stunts. He also trained for 3 hours a day for 6 months.

5. One take of the underwater dormitory scene went wrong when the computers malfunctioned. Cameras, sound guys, and actors were thrown into the water (everyone made it out fine).

6. Director Matthew Vaughn wanted the dogs to actually die when the Kingsman agents shot them. Co-writer Jane Goldman disapproved this idea because it would be too much for audiences. They compromised by using blanks, and the scene with Harry's stuffed dog would still be kept in the movie.

7. Taron Egerton (Eggsy) worked out hard for months and was able to get 6-pack abs and 5% body fat for his role.

8. Richmond Valentine (played by Samuel L. Jackson) was not supposed to have a lisp.

9. Sofia Boutella (who plays Gazelle) had a very intense training schedule filled with Taekwondo and Thai boxing.

10. Director Matthew Vaughn wanted Merlin to have a Welsh accent. Mark Strong (who plays Merlin) could not do a Welsh accent, so he persuaded Matthew Vaughn to let him do a Scottish accent.
