This movie is in my top 10 or top 5 best movies in its genre. It's really good, the performances are great, especially that of the two protagonists, I've always liked Washington and Ethan Hawke, they are solid actors. The confrontation between the old corrupted and the idealistic newbie is great, there is always some tension between them. Washington's character seems more like a criminal than a policeman, both in the way he talks and in his clothes, he's practically a criminal with a badge.
