🎬 TV REVIEW : Killing Eve

In short, Killing Eve is a variation on Luther, ie a story in which good and evil are embodied in detective and a psychopath, who are fascinated by each other. The series doesn't take the usual plot - they are not trying to kill one another, but ... they try to understand what brought them so close. But Killing Eve is not Luther.

Brilliant Sandra Oh is playing the detective of the British MI5 department that becomes the subject of interest by professional killer Villanelle. Between all this, the theory of the famous group "12" is being derived (every similarity with the original EU is coincidental) that is trying destabilize the world and provoke chaos, in which Villanelle travels the world and kills people, usually quite brutal. Yes, it all seems interesting and could even be realized in the spirit of some kind of crime-comedy, which, at times, seems to be the goal. But unless a fascinating amateurism in dealing with the probability of events and engaging services is in the works, it all seems as if Waller-Bridge issued an order to all actors to treat their heroes as teenagers and to be in that spirit, regardless of the level of training which their position implies, behave like a blond in a horror.

This setting occasionally results in very unusual black-humor moments, but more often (as in episode number four, when Villanelle rattles on a meadow to kill one of the MI5 commanders) it all looks like total dilettantism, as if someone who not only has no idea how such services and such people behave in certain situations, but never looked at anything similar.

Killing Eve is a hilarious, naive, almost idiotic template in which each of the actors tries to interpret the material in a genre and the tone that he/she thinks is fit. And if you have fat nerves, you may accept it as a creative challenge. Sandra Oh and her "opponents", Jodie Comer, certainly do their best.
